The Homeworld Remastered Collection introduces Relic's acclaimed space strategy games Homeworld and Homeworld 2 to modern players and operating systems using the newest sophisticated graphics rendering technology, plus a fully remastered score and new, high fidelity voice recordings by the original actors. Nov 27, 2010  Welcome. Due to change of my youtube profile I reuploaded my video with concept arts from Homeworld game series. I change few things and add some more designs. Most of these drawings were.

I got mine today as well and honestly I'm slightly disappointed that a lot of the pictures were low resolution and the pixelation was visible on the pages. I understand that the old artwork isn't available in high res but they've specifically stretched those images to fill a page when the book is missing a bunch of things that I know exist like the junkyard dog concepts, progenitors and an assortment of hiigaran/vagyr ships. Also, I know it's possible to reduce the low-res pixelization with the sensible use of some filters and I wish someone had spent a couple days going through those pictures selected to be full page showpieces. That said, it also has a bunch of the boards from the remastered animatic which are dropdead gorgeous. Still totally worth it for us homeworld nuts.

Rob Cunningham. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a portfolio online as far as I know. You can find him on LinkedIn though.

He's now CEO of Blackbird Interactive and is working on Shipbreakers of course. Also, you can find a few interviews with him on youtube. Awesome guy, huge inspiration.edit: Personally, I'm interested in who did the textures for HW and HW2. The texture artists deserve as much credit as Cunningham himself.

Great design work there. Also a buttload of work, which is even more remarkable, given the state of the tools at the time. My intuition says, that Cunningham had a hand in texturing as well, but I've never read or heard anyone confirming this. (and strangely, I now suddenly remember his name and that I had already researched him previously once).Yup, totally agree on texturing - with the tech at the time of Homeworld 1 it's apparent the designs weren't simply 'sliced up' for the models but carefully adjusted to play around, or with, the tech restrictions.Digression, but one game that always come to mind is Metal Gear Solid 1 on PS1 - the console had no texture filtering so everything is pixelized. Modern emulated versions (not HD) have smoothing and take away, well, everything from the art style:. My sister's husband was a texture artist on HW1 and HW2, and he still works at Relic.

It's really great living in Vancouver, as everyone from the video game industry knows each other.I also had the pleasure of meeting Arinn Dembo, one of the two co-writers who operated under the pseudonym 'Marcus Skyler' (the other being Martin Cirulis. The two of them now head Kerberos Productions in Vancouver, working on the Sword of the Stars franchise). They co-wrote both HW1 and HW:Cataclysm, although that seems to be a little-known fact.

It's really a pity that Cataclysm is so under-rated and barely mentioned here at all. Some people think it doesn't fit the 'theme' that HW:1 did, but I think it's just as beautiful and well-written as the first even if it's in a bit of a different direction.A fun fact: Arinn Dembo also did the voice of the Recon ship in Cataclysm!. Oh, awesome, thanks for that.I guess I don't have enough context/knowledge, because at first I don't really see much connection. But, I'm gonna guess Elson was one of the first (to put it simply) to bring aesthetically pleasing design into conceptual starcraft, as opposed to purely functional? You might find this very interesting, unless you already know of it:):EDIT: I only saw the first page of his 'starcraft' section, I see much more similarities now - use of bright colours and stripeing.
