It very easy to obtain but a little costly as far as I am understanding you do not need to do the training but I think you have so many years from retirement to get it without needing the training. Also in NJ you do not need a carry permit if you are a retired police officer as long as you have your ID card and badge you are good. You can use 218 for work? Off-duty or Retired LEO can use HR 218 to carry a firearm for security Armed work? Can't really just take the word of NJSP over the phone.Or is HR 218 and NJ Permit to Carry two different things? Since HR 218 requires only a once a year Firearms Qualifications but in NJ according to NJSP they require Qualifications twice a year! Why the difference if HR 218 is? Why is NJ able to change requirements?Hope someone can answer this for me!
